How much should a timing belt replacement cost?
I'm looking at a used EVO 8 and it hasn't had the timing belt done. I was wondering how much it'd cost (on average) to have it done at a dealer or at a performance shop (CBRD is only 1.5 hours away).
I was also thinking of doing camshafts in the car right away, should I just do that at the same time too?
Thanks

Not sure on Timing belt off the top of my head but I would def. have CBRD do it before the stealership...But hell yeah I would def. do cams & headstuds at the same time the timing belt is done...Depending on what cams you go with & headstuds...A timing belt job with cams & headstuds may cost around $2k...

Also, it's an 04 EVO 8. I was thinking of doing a BBK, what cams should I get to make good mid-range and top end power close to 400whp on pump gas (if thats possible) ? The car will be a DD but will see approx 4-10 HPDEs/Open track days a year.

depends on what parts the shop replaces when doing the job. Some shops may only quote you for the timing belt and not suggest replacing the tensioner, pulleys, and pump, some shops may quote you with oem parts, and some may quote you non oem parts, either aftermarket or equivalent to oem. On top of the parts, there is always labor and different shops, independent or dealers, will vary. I have been quoted around 1.5k if memory serves me correctly for labor, new oem water pump, tensioner, accessory belt, and pulleys.

Kelford 272 and BBK will get you close to 400. I have them and Im at 390hp on 93 @ 24psi
Don't bother with dealerships. Go straight to CBRD even if you have to pay little more $

you're including the cost of the cams and studs in that price too right?

Massimo Power sells a timing belt package for around $230, and you'll still need a timing belt tensioner, which I got from ExtremePSI for around $120. I ended up paying $373 shipped for everything. Below is all the parts you will have at this point:
-Water Pump
-Balance Belt Tensioner
-Balance Belt
-Timing Belt
-Timing Belt Tensioner
-Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley
-Timing Belt Idler Pulley
Or you can get the same package from Mitsubishiparts.net for $419. They say this kit includes free ground shipping. It used to be at least $100 more, but I guess it's on sale for Christmas.
I only went the cheaper route because I had to buy 2 more tires and an alignment at that same time. I'd jump all over that deal with mitsubishiparts.net for that great price if you can
