I need my flywheel resurfaced, but does anybody know the specs for how much material can be removed? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Mitsu considers the OEM units non-serviceable, so there are no factory specs for them, but I'd like to have some guidelines to give the machine shop. Also, I am pretty sure it is not, but is a balancing required if it is just resurfaced and not lightened?

P.S. Anybody know any machine shop in the Maryland/Baltimore area that are experienced with Evo flywheels and also will do balancing if needed?

I ran into the same prob with my 2002 eclipse. I ended up buying a new flywheel because the dealer told me that the oem flywheel is concaved in design and that cannot be repliocated at a normal machine shop. Proper machining would cost more than the flywheel. I dont know if he was right but i figured i mind as well do it right the first time so i shelled out 200 on a new oem flywheel. I still have the old one lol......hope this helps answer your question

+1, just get a new flywheel.

Have you seen the thread on here from the guy who's flywheel flew apart while under acceleration in 2nd gear? It totaled the car.

I have an ACT prolite. The quality was noticeably higher than the stocker it replaced. I wouldn't recommend Fidanza flywheels. I'm not a fan of the aluminum. 1 piece steel is where it's at for the flywheel.

go with XACT Streetlite. I run it and driveability is the same. I think you can get one new for less than $250
