I read a tech volume somewhere that said the air leaving the vents is directed to the windsheild to keep the airflow from fully detaching (through turbulence) and actually reduces the overall coefficient of friction for the car. Cool! (if it's true)

On another note, the heat wave thing sounds like a cool picture waiting to happen... I'm surprised I haven't seen on posted up...
