Drilling out wheel studs?

need more details...
why do you need to do this? just want longer wheel studs or did you snap one off....
usually it doesn't need to be drilled, a hard hit with a hammer and tap will take one out pretty easily.

well... i broke one of my lugs in half, and half of the lug is stuck on the stud..... with the wheel still on. So im looking for options to fix my terrible situation lol

Had to drill a stud out myself, my own bone head move. Use a punch to set the center of the hole and start with a small drill bit to get a fair way in. Next use a 1/4 inch bit with some oil/lubricant and if you have a replacement stud you can get a pretty good judgement on the depth you need. When I got to where I felt it was deep enough of a hole I snapped the stud off with a screwdriver. Hope this helps.

i cant do any of that with the wheel still on though right lol i have half a broken lug still on there so i have to either get the broken lug off or somehow get the stud off with the wheel still on it

ok i'm pretty sure i've got the concept, probably not the skills though lol. Hopefully I can find a shop to do it tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys

the key to this is lubrication.... when drilling a stud the heat created is crazy, use lots of lubrication on the bit.
Its honestly not a hard task.... drill deep with a small bit, widen with a larger bit.... use a tap, hit it with a hammer and the stud will break because it was significantly weakened by being drilled.
You will then need to remove the wheel, take the disk off and replace the stud.
