HELP! Air in ABS Unit, how to bleed??

The car has been down without the front brakes on, and pretty sure the ABS has air in it.

I completely bled all 4 wheels, with a vacuum bleeder, for about 30 minutes, went through almost 3 qts of brake fluid-

1st pump- Brake pedal drops straight to the floor, then after pumping it 3 times it gets stiff.

The only soultion i've found so far is going to the stealership so they can activate the abs with a scan tool and re-bleed the brakes...

Thanks
-Devin

you don't need to bleed the abs. Just bleed the brakes correctly and you'll be fine. Sounds like you're not bleeding both sides of the calipers.

I forgot to mention that the front brake lines have been off for 8 months. The entire system had massive air, and after searching- when the abs unit gets air in it from a prolonged opening in the system, it's a real pain to get it out. Thanks though, i'll bleed them some more.

Consider this http://www.motiveproducts.com/

I have used it with great success on many different vehicles. No issues with air being stuck in the system. Just ensure you have a tight fit on the reservoir to not have any air leaks.

I use
Phoenix Systems Maxi-Ject PRO
pressurize the system from caliper, forces air thru the ABS into the reservoir.

Went through another 2qts of brake fluid, bleeding all 4 wheels- twice more.

Still takes 3 pumps before it starts to get stiff....

evoscan can activate the abs for you, but you'll need a cable and to purchase the program. maybe someone in your area can help you out on this one.
