Sometime ago I tried to remove the rear diff drain plug to drain the gear oil, but found it didn't budge. It was so bad it actually began to round the damn nut

now I'm not so sure how to get it out. been resorting to siphoning out as much of the oil as possible from the filler plug but that's only about half to three quarter the oil...

any suggestions?

You need one of these with the right size for the diff nut. I'm not sure if that particular kit comes with the right size but you get the idea.

I agree with Scheides though, PB Blaster works wonders. That's terrible that you can't get it where you are though. Good luck!

You might have to resort to using a hammer and chisel. Place the chisel such that when you knock it with the hammer the force turns the bolt. It will put a nasty mark in the bolt though (you should replace it after). Sometimes it is the only way.

Yep... I would have, but I found the kit to remove that size of bolts and ordered it... I'm done with ebay right now because of issues with paypal and international customers.

Only thing is to get a drain plug, but already having trouble ordering that as well...

no fear I shall get through.

just call mitsu to order the plug. i ordered the pluge for the trans and they had it in stock. also, u can always get pb blaster online. its good to have on hand if u own an evo.

Use a 6 point socket, not a 12.

soak it in brake fluid. ill loosen it up.

I watched an ace mechanic working on a large truck. All he used was a hammer and chisel. He was working on big stuff around the axles and seemed to have no trouble getting fittings loose. While I stood there he never picked up a wrench.

It is a skill but it does work.
