Squishy brakes/ air noise

I am looking to see if anyone else has this problem. I notice that the first inch or so that I push the brakes it feels very mushy and squishy and not very effective. In addition in this section there is an air-y noise when the brakes are applied. FYI 9200km never raced

Hmm my Ralliart brakes work perfectly, always thought they were the best brakes I've ever had so far. Maybe it's time to change them?

I get the same feeling from my brakes. Honestly I think it's a Mitsu thing. My '04 ralliart, my '07 endeavor, and my mom's '08 outlander all have the same squishy weak brakes.

My 2001 Galant was that way too. That is until I upgraded to ss lines and higher DOT fluid. I don't know if that would help us though.

if you listen under the car does it sound like its coming from the master cylinder? Chances are if you are hearing a air noise you have air in the brake lines. I would bleed them asap

You're not going to hear sound from having air in your brake lines.

The sound your hearing is air being pushed out of the brake booster, which is vacuum powered. That first inch is the amount of pedal travel it takes to start pushing the pads against the rotors. More aggressive pads and SS lines will make the pedal feel more responsive.

oh, seemed to fix prob on my last car... if it does have to do with the brake booster valve that is one of the possible known manufacturer defects for 08+ RA next to the hood release cable

I talked to the tech while getting my oil changed. He also said it was the brake booster. I haven't changed that thing yet because they were out of stock. Could be it... Kinda annoying thought
