Well I was driving home today and I was driving the car just a tad harder then usual. Since the X is torquey you really dont need to push it hard to get where your going, but Im used to redlining my cars. As I drove the X to around 7k RPMs in each gear I felt like a strange pulsing or vibration. The power wasnt being cut off, though. It kept pulling all the way to 7k RPM, just with the strange feeling as a had my foot on the gas pedal.
Which brings me to my question. Is it a bad idea to constantly redline to 4B11 in the X? I know its a new engine and all, but I know there are a lot of X owners out there who have had their car a lot longer then I have. Im going on my 3rd month. Please understand that Im coming from 3 K20 powered Hondas, which I constantly redline past 8k RPMs on a daily basis, and did not have one single problem with any of the 3. For some reason I feel like I cant treat the X the same way. Maybe Im wrong. I hope Im wrong. What do you guys have to say?

I would make it a point to change your oil more frequently and keep a closer eye on the gauges, but I don't see how it would be bad in the short-term.

RPMs kill engines. Even in racecars, you only rev when you have to. NO need to redline all the time unless you are at the track.

+1, rpm is fun but think about it, the harder you push your engine, the sooner something will have to give. It is mechanical, moving parts moving really fast all the time= break. Ofcourse you will get away with it for a while, how long? Impossible to judge but as others have stated above, more frequent oil changes and maintenance will "help" prevent anything from happening but eventually something will give.

I guess Im just spoiled by all those years driving K20 powered Hondas. Everyday that I drove them they were redlined. Not one single problem. I guess Im gonna have to baby this car a little more.

There's no reason to be shifting at redline all the time as it's past the power peak of the stock 4B11 but it shouldn't bring on any issues either as the rev limiter doesn't kick in until 7500 RPM which means the engine is designed to handle high RPM's. The thing about Honda's is that you have to rev the engines close to redline to get any useful power. The K and older B series engines can handle it no problem but they consume oil if run at redline all the time.

why not? I warm up my car and give it hell everyday. It was built to be driven and 7k redline daily is not a bad thing
