clutch makes loud growling metal spinning sound

Any time I push the clutch pedal I get a gargling, growling spinning, skipping metal sound. but only when I push the pedal all the way in. it stops right before clutch grabs. and the clutch grabs when the pedal is barely pushed, like 1 - 1.5 inches. no noise when idle or driving. it makes noise when shifting through all gears.
Tob?
bearing face?
trans? input shaft or something else?
It just started yesterday right when I got off highway and starting to pull away from first stop light. Right in front of my work place. drove it home though. I have had this clutch for about a year and it is a mutli-disk clutch. had the usually chatter but this new noise is quite excessive.
HELP? or just some input.
I searched tob noise and I think that only happens when clutch is engaged right?
Did not see anything about bearing face noise. (is this part of throw out bearing tob)
I hope its not anything to do with TC or tranny.

Another way to describe sound would be hearing a braided cord rubbing on an edge or corner at high speed. the noise intensifies when at a stop and try to go into any gear.

edit, just re read the whole post.. Sounds like it may need a rebuild.. Have you done lots of launching/track days or ride the clutch a lot in the last year?

i daily drive the car. I might have a driver defect and ride it more than I should. it has 6 launches on it. I do tend to make it bark when down shifting. Rev matching is not a strong suit with me yet but I am getting better, a rebuild maybe in order.

sounds like it could be worn, but you can normally feel it in different ways.
