Custom Cold Air AMS intake box.
Ok today I made a custom Cold Air AMS intake box.
I have no idea if it's going to effect performance good or bad..
But I just wanted to try it out.
I bought all of the materials at HomeDepot, it cost around $20-30 tops.
BEWARE super ghetto rigged!
Heres some pictures-->
The pipe goes to the bottom of the intake box forcing cold air in.

I would widen the hose on the bottom air dam or put a funnel or anything like that, you need to maximize airflow to that hose (which i'm assuming is going to the intake box ;p) , its going to be way more efficient... but the way you have it set it up right now, you're losing a lot of air .. but good job its a really creative design

The concept is sound, just a matter of making it have a more finished look. I made a cold air box for my Evo 8 and 20-30 degrees cooler air entering the turbo does help quite a bit. It may only be 5-10 HP but that's better than nothing! I would use at least 4" ducting and like others have said having a funnel at the entry from the front grill is likely the most important place.

Nice project. I'm not a super fabricator myself but I think eventually you would want to spend some time to make that box out of some aluminum that you polished or painted. You might also want to rivet it all together. Making the box itself a square or rectangular shape would simplify the task. As for the connections between the piping and the box, you might find some rubber strip or weatherstrip to make that more "pro" without the duct tape or at least apply the duct tape in nice straight lines.

the Box also fixes the problem of having a open element filter with the AC on at idle. So now i can sit there with AC on thats really why i build it its a lot cheeper then buying Bushers filter air blocker..
