How to Remove Headlights ?
Hey guys, how do you remove your headlights?
I own an '03 EVO and wanted to adjust my low beams, which seem to be impossible to reach without taking out the headlights.
Do you have to remove the bumper in order to get to the headlights? If so can you point me to the "How To" on this?
Thanks

If I understand it correct it is likely that even set at "0" they point too low. However, there is a way to move the headlights without taking them out. There's a gear system that a screwdriver or torx driver fit into that you can adjust the level of the lights when the car. If it were me, I'd just take it to a mitsu dealer and have them do it... Or a shop that works on Evos (which is what I did, since it was a PITA turning the little gear super carefully)

My car is lowered, so the knob inside the cabin is already at the highest setting, and still they're pointing towards the ground. I'll have to find a Mitsu shop where they can do it for me.

To answer the original question, yes you have to remove the front bumper to remove the headlight housing. There will be several clips and bolts that have to be removed. I found it to be fairly easy, I dont know where the how to is for this, but Im sure you can find one if you look hard enough. Sorry I couldnt be more help. Good luck

Yes, but you do NOT need to remove the bumper to adjust the headlights because you do NOT need to remove the headlights to adjust them... Don't waste your time and/or money doing that without trying what I was talking about. Or do, I guess I don't care. But I did it with a How To (sorry it was over a year ago so I don't have it) and a screw driver and some blue tape on my driveway one night... Made it so the 2 setting was equal to the 0 setting before I adjusted it.

That's good news you don't have to remove the bumper. I'll try it sometime tonight. Looks pretty easy just a turn of the wrench and it'll be done.

I tried adjusting mine yesterday and the little plastic gears on my right headlights were stripped. I tried taking the little gear out of the bracket and turning it by hand and it was so hard its impossible. From what I see I think I've raised the high beam but since the little gear was slipping the low beam stayed at the same level. What can I do?
