Drives: a drunken IX

The Do and Do not in a alky injection system

Do:
-good installation - soldered wire connections + heat shrink

-good failsafe

-a valved system to cut off the injection of water/meth to prevent run-on or the result might be an IC full of methanol.
Alky kit w/o solenoid valve...not good! - Post #30

-educate yourself about meth injection. Good reference material from Richard@Aquamist, read, digest and ask lots of questions!
Indepth study of WAI injection systems - all things meth injection
There are failsafes, failsafes and failsafes... - all things failsafe

-WAI Manufacturers should add a relay so WAI can draw power directly from the battery. Cost more but good reliability long term for the end user.

-check you methanol if you buy it from a race shop from a open drum
Methanol + water = milky

Do not:
-Draw your WAI system's +12v supply from the OE harness. Use a relay. 10amp is a great deal of current.

-Don't use contaminated methanol. Check it for clarity with water.

I'll update this as more ideas pour in
