EVC V boost controller - problems with boost spike ??

I just got done with my first test spin with the HKS EVC V installed - I have the JDM version with Kpa read out

I am having terrible boost spike

I have it set to SWNG type wastegate and the volume is on 14 - it spikes up to like 20 PSI right away and then falls back to about 13 - 14 psi

Did anyone else install one of these boost controllers yet? Am i doinmg something worng ?

Is this boost controller N?G for our cars ???

Any advice would be appreciated

PS - check your intercooler hose clamps on the junction near the battery - I blew mine off and got stuck on the side on the interstate - it was fun to re-attach and re-set the ECU with all those trucks blowing by me at 12:30 in the a.m .

My reserach is possibly indicating a issue with the restrictive exhasut and the twin scroll building boost too quickly - or maybe I am completely Polish and hooked up the boost controller wrong >?

Something that can sometimes cause this is a boost leak somewhere in the line. Check all your lines and the boost controller to make sure your not leaking boost somewhere, including from your boost gauge if you have one.

Thanks man - thats what it was - a minor leak in one of the hoses ! Now it works nice - - still has a very slight bump in boost at about 4,000 then it settles down nicely and holds flat to red line - the HKS unit is very very good - also - I took off the rear muffler to see how that helped - not much

Is this BC on your EVO 8 already or your STI?
If it's on your EVO, how was the install?

EVO - actually the install was quite hard a sthere is very limited space under the hood

I understand where you're coming from w/ the limited space issue, I helped my brother install an HKS boost controller on his old Stealth twin turbo, and those things have NO space under the hood, it's hard to even stick a finger in there!

So did the BC for your EVO come with instructions, or did you just basically figure it out yourself?
