Is Dual Audio any good?
Is Dual Audio any good? I was thinking about buying a head unit made by dual audio. Was curious if it was any good. Opinions would be very very helpful!
Oh btw does it even matter if the head unit is any good? Or is all that matters is the sub woofers, speakers, etc. I'm a total noob about car audio

Headunits matter... u can have a crappy *** Sony X-plod which signal output sucks and have excellent subs and amps and it'd sound like crap. Dual Audio is basically best buy's brand and store brands are crap IMO. Stick with the big dogs... (Alpine, Pioneer, Denon, Clarion, Kenwood).

hrmph, I actually like my xplod HU. I'm not an audio **** at all so I can't really tell the difference at certain frequencies. Plus I never play my music too loud....
I did take a look at some of those dual HU's and they did look a bit gaudy IMO.

We sell dual at our shop here, or at least we can. It's pretty much crap, it's a step above jensen/pyramid, but not a big step.
apparently they sell pretty well though, our rep said his best seller is the one with the 2.5" screen in the face (it's blue/white monochrome, but the pic in the book is of a surfer on a wave, so you think that it's colour)

not entirely true. u can get brand new volfenhag(i think thats correct spelling) subs off ebay or other places for about half of any other comparable sub(such as jl audio), and i can honestly vouch that they're just as good, only bad thing is prolly resale, jl will sell instantly. me, i have a pioneer HU, i love it, i paid 180 total for it new, and the nice thing about pioneer HU's is that they have basically a complete built in equalizer. if i were u, i would spend the extra 40 bux and buy pioneer, i love them. alpine HU's are awesome too, but not the cheaper models, they just plain blow anymore. clarion and kenwood are good too, i just dont know anyone w/ them so i cant say much bout them. whatever u decide to get, dont buy dual, or for that matter other cheap or no-name hu's, if ur tight on cash, buy a used one out of ur local classifieds, there are about 80 in the papershop(local magazine for the whole NE USA.) just make sure they work before u buy it.
