AYC fluid question?
i have a jdm evo 8 and in the trunk, on the left side it has a plastic tank, where the cap on it says use ATF sp 3 fluid, i didnt have any luck finding the sp 3 fluid but was able to fin DEX 3 atf fluid from valvoline...
now my question is can i use the DEX 3 fluid in the AYC?
and also use it for power steering?

SP3 and dex 3 are not the same. Mitsubishi has diaqueen SP3 for the AYC /ACD . Castrol also sells a multi import that claims its SP3 compatible. I believe some others may be compatible as well like Redline or Amsoil but you'll have to check. As for the power steering that uses SP2.

too late guys, someone told me if its ATF fluid its ok to go, i put in the DEX 3 fluid and after 12 miles there was a grinding noise, now i dont know if its from the AYC/ACD unit and after that i immedietly stopped, i hope anything isnt damaged?
if i drain the fluid and fill in this ATF fluid from havoline...Havoline® ATF-J is suitable for use where the following fluid specifications are recommended: Toyota Type IV, Nissan Matic J, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-III, Honda ATF-Z1.
will the grinding go away or is it permanently damaged?

Any grinding is obviously bad. You should flush out the crap you put in it and replace it ONLY with OEM fluid. These cars are picky with their fluids and Mitsubishi engineers make special fluids for a reason. I would refrain from driving it until you get SP-III. Just my 2 cents.
