The search did not turn up what I am looking for.

I want to get a separate ignition-on 12V power source circuit from one of the empty spots in the fuse box instead of tapping other circuits. Where can I get that part need to create a new circuit and what is that part called?

In this picture (picture is from engine bay fuse box, but I understand there is one in the cabin), look at the empty spot under the 30 amp fuse. On the right, you can see the gold plate, but on the left is an empty hole. I assume I need to get some part with the gold plate and a wire on it and stick in the hole, then put in a fuse and I'm good to go. What is that part called and where do I get it?

I do not know what the part is called, but you have a few to spare on the inside fuse box you can remove. What exactly do you need a seperate ignition source for? More info and i can help you better.

If its a theft thing, PM me and i will help you there.

I'm just installing gauges on EVO9, and wanted to learn about "editing" fuse boxes. I always used to splice wires from radio or cigarette lighter, but I figured I'd try a nicer more proper and easier to reverse method this time around. Sticking in a wire into a fuse (tapping a fuse) I saw as a solution, but still did not like it that much (see pic - source: http://www.jonesland.com/evo/BoostGauge_Install.htm). Just wanted to try setting up a separate circuit mostly out of pure interest.

In the same picture (below) of the inside Fuse Box, there is the gold metal tabs on both sides of an empty hole, so sticking in a fuse in there would enable that circuit.... but I have not yet looked in there to see if there is a wire dongle or if I need to plug something in.... and rumor has it that the EVO 9 does not have an inside under dash fuse box as stated in here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=fuse+box. I'll be checking this out this afternoon.

I've heard of something called add-a-circuit:

It's not as proper as actually modifying the box itself from the backside, but it's easily reversable, should you every (God forbid ) sell the car.

I plan on using one of these when I do my gauges later this summer.

Thanks Alacris - yes I have seen these too and wanted to go that route for the dimmer lighting. These are perfect for tapping into the dimmer circuit for the gauge lighting (so your gauge light dimms with rest of cluster).

FYI, the link you provided is for the "bigger" fuses, EVO uses the small fuses. Amazon does not seem to have the small fuse version... Here is what is needed (I think): http://www.autobarn.net/atm-line.html

BTW, what is the proper naming of the "big" and "small" fuses? Is it ATC and ATM respectively?

i m getting an add a circuit from autozone.
they had one.
and #10 and #17 is empthy spot ~
i m not sure if it was both are 12v constant,.
but 1 of 2 is 100% 12v constant power
i checked with my volt meter.

Evo IX certainly has an inside fusebox. There is a door to access it on the left side of the wheel. It sort of flips down.


Ok, I went out and looked at my car for exact access. On the MR's there is a wheel to adjust HID headlight height. The panel that this wheel is mounted in flips down and comes completely out to access the fuse panel. Have you checked your owners manual?

I think the interior cabin fuse box contains all switched (ignition) 12v sources...the only 12v constant sources are in the engine compartment fuse box. Were you able to see 12v off of 10 and/or 17 without keys in the ignition?

sorry to bring this back but does anyone know what fuse #6 is? From the picture on the third post? I searched but i cant get a doscription on the legends they give. Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure that's for the intercooler sprayer. My 03 had one.
