I currently have 450whp fp green..im wanting a built motor and a fp red...I was wanting feedback from you guys on reliability, longevity, street manners with this combination or something close...I want to know from the guys that the car is truely a daily driver... 600+whp is goal, i drive it every day,track,autocross, and rally...thoughts/opinions thanks

Its all a question of money my friend. Depending on the build, I probably wouldnt want any more than 500whp running E85. On pump, I'd stay under 450whp if I was daily driving it.

High horsepower cars are daily driveable, just depends on how many idiosyncrasies you want to deal with. My daily driver is a 10 sec car, and its fairly practical. I would say the clutch would be the first thing to get in your way but shouldn't be a concern at those listed power levels.

Fp red? That's definitely daily drivable, so short answer is yes, but your whole build and tune will all come into play.

You said you rally. What i'm interested is seeing you rally a 600whp car, or rallyx if that's what you meant. That's a LOT do try and put down in grass/gravel

+1 nobody rallyx's with 600whp that's idiotic esp. since majority of the cars that race are stock Subaru WRX's and Ford Escorts. But who knows maybe he is racing another form of rally.

I would agree with you about the clutch. I also have 10 sec/ 700+hp evo. The QM 8 leg clutch is probably the least friendly part of my car as a daily drive. Trying to engage the clutch smoothly is a challenge and then the drivetrain noise takes some getting ust to. Overall it makes for a fun dd and more of a driving experience.

I think you should get a advice from builder/tuner. Im sure they can give you much better advice or let you know best way.

If i were you, i will prob pick up cheap car for daily and use evo for weekend/off day toy.

My evo is built running about 500+ and I drive it everyday. It runs great guess it depends on tune. I'm tuned for 93 octane. The only thing I have had gone wrong is alternator went out but it had 85,000 on it.

Ive had a long talk with Aaron from English Racing and he advised around 450 whp for a street driven, daily driver. The higher hp cars arent as fun on the street like that and arent as "comfortable". Hope that makes sense.

You must respect it for what it is. Can't beat on it 24-7, because no matter how much money is invested, 600hp will break things. Which is fine when its not a daily driver. But at that power level, parts for repair are expensive and can cause serious down time. I made close to 600 on the stock block. No issues. Daily driven. Never blew, engine looks great (its apart). But I respected it. No launches, no stupid racing.

550-650whp is no issues for a daily driver. What you have to decide is, if you get a stiffer clutch, is that gonna bother you?

How long will it last? Well, are you gonna be launching it non stop, and going WOT every other set of lights? The car will last as long as you want it to, with a proper build that is.

Buy quality parts, get a quality build by a reputable builder, take care of the car, and it'll be a blast to drive daily and it will last you as long as you'd like it and beyond.

I dont yet dd my evo as it is undergoing re-constructive sergery... im also planning on 600whp. I dont see it being an issue at all, its not like you beat on the car every minute your in the car. Under most dd conditions the vehicle will only be in a window where it barely makes any hp. Plus in most cases you need a bigger turbo to get that power... with the delayed spool, there is a more difintive point of point a to point b driving to spirted driving. (drop a gear and go)

At most, I see it as I will need to replace plugs and o2 sensors more often but thats it... I dont see any catastophic failure in driving a 600 whp car when compared to a 300 or 400 whp car, especially when the vehicle was fully built for the intended goal... just my input on the matter... sorry I cant give you direct feedback yet as im not yet running...

I wanted 500hp really on pump gas e-85 is hard to come by where I live, plus if I want to take it to the beach or just a road trip I would prefer pump gas 93 octane. is this possible? alot of people say it isnt then you have people that say they are able to do this on thier cars
