upgraded fuel system

Has anyone upgraded their fuel rail or injectors? I was thinking of doing that but was thinking it might be overkill with the stock turbo.I was looking at the ams fuel rail and injector for the evo x.

I think I read somewhere that someone with 300+ HP on their RA was still using the stock injectors and they weren't even maxed out yet, so I'm guessing you are probably okay.

I'm sure someone else can chime in to confirm or debunk that. =)

Considering the RA has the same fuel system as the EVO X, and that system can support over 350 whp/tq, I think the stock fuel system far exceeds the capabilities of the stock turbo.

No need for larger injectors on stock turbo on pump gas.

Our cars come pretty good equipt from factory. If it wasn't for that tranny of ours we will all going for 400+ HP. Even our BPV can hold almost up to 30 PSI of boost which is awesome. Use that money on something that will help performance and not just looks.

Let's not get carried away. About the max we will see on our stock turbo is 280 whp. Certainly not over 300 whp.

The stock plastic RA BOV will not even come close to holding 30psi.

There are a few companies that are working on some disks, fluid, coolers, etc.... that should allow the car to hold 400+ tq on the SST tranny. It is just too new for a lot of products to be available yet.

I agree with GST, there is not way in hell that the plastic BOV its going to hold 30 PSI. It leaks (based on my own testing at home) at about 22-23 PSI. However, this may vary but I am pretty sure it will be in the 20s. I swapped my plastic BOV @ 110 miles in the odometer along with the Recaro seats. :-)

call me a newbie. but if you upgrade the fuel pump wouldn't that allow more fuel into the engine. My understanding is that the more air/fuel going to the engine the better combustion will occur in the engine and the more power it will produce.

That is true, but when the engine is already getting more fuel than it can air, there is no point in increasing the fuel input even more.

The fuel pumps job is to supply adequate fuel flow and pressure to keep a constant for the injector to inject a specific amount of fuel. A fuel pump will never really "make" more power, but it will keep you from making more power once its incapable of adequate supply.

We ran stock fuel injectors and fuel pump up to 420whp on the 35R, before running out of fuel. On the stock turbo, it's more then enough.

Good Luck!

More fuel is only a good thing if you have more air as well, the stock turbo is tiny and I'd be surprised if it could efficiently flow enough to max out the stock injectors.
