Parts compatibility? EVO X MR to Ralliart.
Hey guys,
Wife is out of a job, and wants to start the family thing going on, so I am trading in both my EVO's on a Ralliart Sportback. I just spent the last two day taking all the Buschur Racing parts off of the MR (Exhaust system, upper and lower intercooler pipes, FMIC, and intake pipe with cone filter. While I was at it I snagged my stock metal EVO X BOV.
I know that the FMIC core will work, and it looks like the upper IC pipe should work with minor changes to connect to the turbo vs the EVO X turbo... The lower IC pipe is made for the MR (also TC-SST equipped like the Ralliart) so I suspect it should fit fairly well.
My questions are mainly the intake pipe and cat back exhaust. If I put in a mini battery kit to get the battery out of the way would I be able to use the intake pipe and cone filter from my MR in the Ralliart, and what if any are the differences between the cat back exhaust systems in the Ralliart and EVO X?
Thanks for any help,
Keith

Aww man I thought that you were gonna sell the stuff when i first looked at the post, lol. Exhaust won't mount up cause the rear suspension on the MR is different. FMIC will work and piping should be fine with a few tweaks here and there.

Sucks u have to sell both evos . The FMIC, UICP and LICP will work and the metal BPV. The Evo X Cat-back won't work on the RA. The X cb has different bends to get around the much heavier duty suspension on the X. Sorry not sure about the intake so I won't try to BS you.
How to: Upper/Lower IC pipes & EvoX Intercooler
EVO x Exhaust noes NOT fit the NEW RA-Confirmed

Looking at the pictures posted in the "no the EVO X Exhaust don't fit" thread it appears that the Buschur Exhaust (routed way close to the differential on the evo x) may fit the RA... but the exhaust tips would be hidden under the bumper, not sit flush with it like on an EVO. I will be able to let everyone know first hand in a few days when I actually get the Ralliart Mine is Graphite Gray with no optional crap on it... clean and simple (until I go nuts on it with the parts)
I will get some stock drag strip times for comparison, and hope to get a set of stock dyno runs as well and then some dyno runs after the mods.
I will be taking the car to the local truck scales in bone stock form to get an actual weight for the car as well.

I can't wait to see what you end up finding out. I still think you might have a problem with the exhaust, though. I also have a feeling the intake may not fit either, even with a mini battery kit. BUT that also depends on who makes the intake and how it's designed. I think you will be able to figure it out though.

HOw is the Sportback?
I"m thinking about switching over from my Evo VIII to the Sportback, didn't know if others had any impressions or thoughts. . .it looks like an Evo VIII engine (sort of) with an SSL package if you get the Sportback Ralliart + Recaro package. . .

good to see another sportback owner - nice work
the engine is from the x (with some differences eg single scroll turbs, f/m and a few other things), but the suspension is a little more archaic - from the earlier evo's. im loving the practicality of the hatch along with the sst

Major difference is that the ralliart requires hanger in a different location then the EVO X catback.

Yup, talked to Jrod today and he said that the cat back is a no-go Guess what is getting posted in the private party for sale section right now?

Well, two of my parts are confirmed... the Forge WG actuator and the Buschur upper IC pipe. I have the WG actuator installed, but not the upper IC pipe. I have just verified that the coupler used by Buschur fits the Ralliart turbo outlet at this time.
Looks like the intake pipe will NOT work. The stock EVO MAS is separate from the air filter housing, it is just bolted onto it. The Ralliart MAS is integrated into the air filter housing.
I would lay good money that the MAF housing diameter is the same as the EVO... so if I can get one from somebody parting out their EVO (or AMS may have some on hand) then I will be able to use my old intake from Buschur.

Allrighty then!
The Buschur FMIC is installed, along with the buschur upper and lower IC pipes. The only part that fit 100% no changes needed was the upper IC pipe.
The lower IC pipe, has the connection for the BOV return line coming out right where the battery tray is. I trimmed the battery tray, and used some correct sized hose that I already had sitting around to make the BOV line mate up to the stock line... my BOV is right off of the lower IC pipe now, down where you can't see it under the battery.
The intercooler itself actually fits behind the bumper better than it does behind the EVO X bumper... no shim required like with the EVO bumper. I did have to remove the connection between the bumper and the hood latch though. Also, the bottom mounting brackets on the Buschur EVO intercooler don't match up to anything on the Ralliart... had to redneck engineer that a bit.
I am going up to AMS in the morning to pick up the small battery kit (stock battery don't fit worth a crap right now) along with their triple gauge pod, boost pill, and Cat back exhaust. If they have a stock MAS housing from an EVO I will pick that up as well.
Keith
