How bad are the Yokohama ADVAN A10A stock tires?

Am wondering how much these tires are holding the car back....

How bad are the Yokohama ADVAN A10A stock tires?

The people out there who swapped em out for other tires...how much of an improvement was there in handling etc?

They are bad, bad, bad.

Okay, so they aren't that bad, but they definitely aren't great. Oh, but don't worry: they won't last long.

+1. Mine are dead...@ 14k miles later. I was gentle on them too.

Tires are somewhat better with a siping job done. Stop by a discount tire if there's one nearby...I got all mine siped for $40, helped performance a lot.

Drives: 09' Ralliart

http://www.insideline.com/subaru/imp...preza-wrx.html

It went from 65.5mph/.80g slalom/skidpad to a ridiculous 69.3mph though skidpad was only .82g because they said the tires were pretty worn.

Compare that to the Evo X MR's 68.8 or the GSR's 70.7 and it's pretty impressive.

for day to day driving, it is perfectly fine, even for spirited driving, u wont find it lacking that much unless u go to the limit but i doubt that or else you would have gotten an evo x. i find them plenty to be honest, i dont know maybe people are expecting too much from a relatively cheap daily driver car

Or, maybe people want the stock tires' performance to be somewhat commensurate with the vehicle's capabilities.

That's what I don't understand. Everyone agrees the tires are poor - yet they wear out extremely quickly:
If the compound is that soft I thought it would grip like ****....or the compound is just cheap ****!

Siping sounds good though, they cut the surface of the tire up to give it some texture and so it grips. Am sure this will reduce its life considerably? So the tires will wear out sooner

I find the braking disappointing as well compared to a lot of other cars....I am blaming this on those Yokohamas

They last as long as my ex girlfriends. LOL. I'm at 7500 miles and the are as good as gone, I don't even hit corners that hard if hard at all. My guestimate is they will last to 14K and thats it. I already got Yokohama S. Drives on my list.

I thought the Goodyear RS-A were bad on my 04 Ralliart. These are even worse. I would do a simple turn under mild throttle and it reaches the limit. I'm going to find an empty parking lot with no cops and just practice some drifting or something to wear them out quicker.

Yes they reach their limit very quickly - and then squeal like lil piggies

While pedal feel is excellent, offering good feedback and resistance, there is simply not enough tire grip to slow the car. No bite, no ABS pulse, no slowing when you stand on the pedal. I'd almost give this a "Poor" rating had it not been for the excellent pedal feel.
This is from the review above...

How are the high-performance all season tires?
Would they be better than the ADVAN 10s or similarly poor as they are not summer tires?
