^ i wouldnt be so enthusiastic about buying used winter tires. some of the best ones are designed to lose their edge once its 50% worn.

I also am in the market for winter tires. Here is what I am going to do.

I also wanted to go down in size for price reasons.

I got a full set of 2G 17" wheels from the Normal, IL MOD and they are the exact same offset as the stockers. They are 2 piece Enkie wheels.

I found Firestone Winterforce 215/55/17s on tirerack for $84 each.

They are a little taller than stock but will be better for snow drifts.

If you want to do this, watch ebay for these wheels to come up. Mitsu gave away 60 full sets at MOD in IL and I would bet you could find a few sets for sale there.

This was the second year in a row I went home with a set (they are on my 92 Galant VR-4). Last year I won a set and this year I snagged a set in the parking lot from someone that had won them for $100 (yes, for all 4).

Here is what they look like. Keep an eye open and you may get lucky.

Don't listen to the dealership!!! If the Ralliart came with slicks he'd probably tell you the same thing. It's scary how little they know about their cars. I knew way more about the Ralliart than my sales guy at the dealership.

Ive used goodyear eagle 215/45zr18 highperformance all season tires last winter and worked just fine, right now at the rack there $97 each, and discount tire will match that price. there no blizzaks, but if your on a budget for winter tires, i really suggest those.

After some research it seems that Michelin X-Ice or Blizzak Ws60's are the way to go. theres very little price difference between the two.
Any suggestions which way to go?

^I just grabbed a set of Blizzak WS60s.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those two tires. Flip a coin, .

probably can't go wrong with either...1010tires favors the WS60's, same with APA.

i'm waiting for my WS60 set (16") to come in next week...$680+tax for tires and wheels.

What tire size did you go for that price? 225s?
