Long Tire Valve Stems

So, Im trying to air up my tire on the RA and the metal Valve stem is longer than your typical rubber ones. It seems like I can't get the air pump hose to close the gap to make that seal so air can go into the tire to inflate. Am I doing this wrong? I hope it's something simple. feel silly asking this question but... be gentle.

i am constantly "playing" with the tire air pressure

on my RA and outlander ( same valve stem ).

i have never had any problems either adding air or using my pressure guage.

i am thinking the problem may be with the chuck on your compressor.
