215/50/17 or 215/55/17?

I'm looking at a winter configuration and I have both options. The 215/50/17 is closest to OE Spec, and the 215/55/17 is around 2.7% larger. Which would be a better choice for winter? Also what are the consequences of running the larger tire?

As far as I know, the sidewall isn't going to make a difference performance wise. Just keep the overall diameter as close as possible to stock.
