It's not just the series but the actual physical size of the tire. If I recall, the Ralliart has a 215/45/18 tire while the Evo is a 245/40/18. Based on this the Ralliart has a sidewall height of 96.75 mm while the Evo has a height of 98 mm. You would be amazed at how much a tire/wheel moves as you drive. I rub with a heavy load in the back and I'm on the stock suspension (which, as you can see in my profile, is SUV tall). Something that hasn't been mentioned is potentially running stiffer springs to stop rubbing. It's not the most elegant solution but it works.

The Ralliart tire is actually a tad taller than the Evolution tire.
If you put people in the car and drive down the interstate the rears will rub BADLY. It started tearing our tires up so badly, we had to stop and buy a wooden bat at K-Mart and do some emergency fender rolling or we wouldn't have made it another 50 miles before getting a blowout. It was shaving huge pieces of rubber off and they were flinging around getting rubber all over the paint.

in simple terms.................
the evo-x wheel i 8.5 inches and has +35 offset. RA is 7 inches with +45 offset.
if you put the evo-x wheel on the RA , they will "stick out" of the fender wells.
yes , they will rub even at stock height , so you could not lower your RA....
.......and you will still have the huge retarded gap above the front tires.
if you like the look of exo-x wheels.....
get some that look the same , that have the proper fitament for the RA.

you can make the evo x rims fit without rubbing.. run thinner tyres maybe 225's, when lowering maybe opt for stiffer springs and run some neg camber.. also rolling guards..
someone here is running 18x9 +36 or so i think it was on 235/40.. and is lowered on RRM springs and all he had to do is roll his guards and the rubbing issues were fixed..
Also someone fitted the evo x rims on their ralliart on another forum and said theres no rubbing at all on stock height..

Any weight in the rears will make it rub. You need to have +40 offsets...
I believe exo x wheels are +38 offset.
Even hard cornering will make the rears rub. Just the rears...

It looks like it you lowered it and camber the tires, roll the fenders. It looks like it would work. 1.5-2* of camber might do it. Looks possible.

yes..........you can do alot of work and "make" the evo-x wheels and tires fit an RA.
but what would be the point. just buy wheels that fit......
..... so you can lower it , run a normal camber setting and not have to beat up your wheel wells.
if you MUST have evo-x wheels.... have the mounting face machined 5 to 10 mm..
.......then they will work O.K. on an RA.

I wouldn't classify rolling fenders and adding camber "alot of work". Proper fitment is making the wheels you like fit the car. Not buying sunken battleship wheels that look like **** just because they don't rub. As long as your toe is in check, you can get away with running on the higher side of the factory camber rating and not completly kill tire life.

Rolling fenders might not be alot of work but u can find a nice set of wheels for these cars w/o doin that. Like outty said if u must absolutely positively have them then go ahead but it is not necessary, those wheels are not cheap.
