New tires

Hey so i still have my summer tires on from when i first bought it a little bit ago and since i live where it snows but not a whole lot so should i get all season tires or will the car drive just fine in the snow and if so what are the best tires to get?

From everything I've heard, the stockers suck in snow. Moreover, an AWD car in the winter with summers on is like a ballerina with crocs on, it's strange and doesn't allow the car to use what it's got.

not if theres snow on the ground. these tires are horrible for snow, obviously because they are summer tires. if you get maybe an inch or so you'll be OK if you take it easy and put it in snow mode, but anything more i would get winter tires. Trust me, i live in Syracuse, NY one of the heaviest snowfall areas in the US and the day after i got my RA it snowed a few inches and it was horrible.

Cheaping out on tires always leads to trouble. Dedicated snows will never let ya down vs. attempting to drive on tires which are really Summers when you look at them.

Get the winterforce tire, its dirt cheap, its immune to warm weather driving. and in deep snow it will take some of the stress out of the driving.

Going out there with stocks is just asking, just begging for trouble. If you dont do it for your self, do it for your family or someone else who may drive your car and not be as skilled.

For all the different summer tires I've had on various cars over the years, no problem with snow. Made it thru the Vail Pass during a blizzard with Prada Spec-2's. It's just a matter of not driving like an idiot while there's snow on the ground.

The OP said it doesn't snow a whole lot where he's at, so it shouldn't be a problem if he doesn't get snow tires. If he lived somewhere that accumulated serveral feet of snow a winter, then it would be different.

^exactly, why would you tell anyone otherwise to stay with the stockers on this car. The stock tires were even rated bad on tirerack. Sure they are meant for summer driving, I drove on them last winter right after I bought my car and they definetly did not give you confidence in the snow.

Few hundred bucks for a piece of mind can go a long way.

I always thought that driving through the Vail Pass during a blizzard on summer spec tires was sort of the definition of driving like an idiot?

The stock tires are fine if nothing goes wrong! Around here we have deer that like to see if they can hit your car... on summer tires you don't stand a chance, and if you try to avoid one will likely end up wrapped around a tree. With winter tires you may still hit the deer, but you are much less likely to loose control and go off roading.

The fact that it doesn't snow a lot where the OP lives is why people are recommending a good all season tire instead of all out dedicated snow tires.

agree fully.........

i live in "sunny so.cal." and even i have michelin all-season tires.
