Lancer upgrade to Ralliart...
What you see in the pictures below are of a 2008 Lancer GTS
I had a flawless driving record up until that day
I worked the night before at a late shift
Got 2 hours of sleep
Then worked early shift the next morning
This accident happened after the shift was done
It was noon and I was 2 blocks away from my house
I had blacked out and rear-ended a SUV
I was okay. The people in the other car were okay. Their car had minor damage.
My car totalled
A message to all: Never sacrifice sleep to earn a couple extra bucks. It could cost you more than you think. I learned the hard way and am glad to still be alive.
Now I'm normally not a bad driver. All my friends were surprised when I told them what had happened. But I'm letting you all know that this can happen to anyone that is tired. I quit that job the following week.
I ended up buying a used 1998 Integra... but missed my Lancer and got a Ralliart
Heh
This was life changing experience that I wanted to share with you all...

Ouch! Glad you are okay at least. And the RA is a nice upgrade none the less.

I'm glad you're okay. I had a simlar experience last year where I had a couple hours of sleep and was heading home for new years eve and I totalled my old car. Ended up with the Ralliart afterwards

Sorry about your accident, but it's good to hear that everyone is okay! Enjoy your new Ralliart! :-)

Supposedly driving while sleepy is worse than driving when intoxicated! I'm sure we've all had it happen (driving while sleepy). Worse for me is when it is sunny and warm out, as I can be wide awake and then get in the car and the sun just puts me to sleep!

I know this is scary man. Glad you are okay and glad to have you join the RA community. I have been working full time at Dunkin' Donuts and going to college. This is very hard to do being a shift leader working 4-Mid. (sometimes later) I go to school and get out at 330 so I have to rush to work daily. And then doing homework after school. It's hard driving home sometimes and driving to school in the morning. I need to do something here. I have blacked out a few times but have caught myself. Scares the hell out of me.

Yeah that sounds horrible. I'd look into trying to get some more financial aid if possible so you can cut back your hours at least, as you won't be able to concentrate in school very well either!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest something here. Please don't take this in a negative way.
Perhaps it's best to sell the car and get a cheap used beater until you're out of college. Now is not the time to buy more car than you can afford without sacraficing your education. I had a freebie that someone gave me for a while until I felt I was in a position to comfortably afford my RA without having to give up my lifestyle, weekends, going out, season passes, etc.
If you're pulling 3.6's or above, that's great but please don't let a fancy car (or a girl, or anything else in that matter) get in the way of finishing up your education. I guarantee you, if you work hard and it and saved, you'd be able to walk into a dealership within a few years and buy the newest RA cash on the spot.
To the OP:
I've almost fallen asleep quite a few times going like 80 on the freeway only to be awoken by the rumble strips. More than once have I caught myself drifting into another lane only to wake up halfway through and flip my turn signal on so I only look like I forgot to signal instead of looking like a moron who fell asleep. It's scary as ****. If it's really cold, try opening the window everyonce in a while to blast yourself with cold air.

I have fallen asleep at red lights before. Not cool man. If you feel sleepy just pull the car off to the side and doz off for like half hour. Put your phone alarm on.

Someone fell asleep at the light once and instead of honking, the guy behind him made the "shhhh" signal out of the window to everyone else, who did the exact same thing and slowly crept by him.
I think he must've been there for like 10 minutes cause no one woke him up.
