Weight change from modifications....

Well, now that I have my physical modifications to the car complete (listed in signature) I decided to take it back to the truck scales.

All told my modifications had a net weight reduction of 40 lbs. I say "net" reduction because some parts weigh more than the stock piece. The main heavy weight item is the Buschur FMIC... it is substantially heavier than the stock FMIC. Also, the upper and lower IC pipes are stainless steel rather than rubber and plastic.

Anyway, the car bone stock, full tank of gas weighed in at 3580 (no driver) and now weighs in at 3540 lbs. I also did a full trunk clean out. Removing the spare tire, tools, jack, load floor, cargo cover, and the three head rests from the back seats removed another 40 lbs from the car.

Later,

Keith

I just read this - immediately went outside and removed the headrests from the back seats on mine too!

They weigh virtually nothing, but I hate having them in my rear view mirror!

Removal =

Headrest removal was the first thing I did. The spoiler already restricts my view enough.

Great thing about the sportback is having the spoiler above the rear window.

I like having the spoiler. Almost in perfect placement blocking bright headlights.

Nice mods, Keith. It's pretty sweet you still are 80lbs. lighter even with a couple heavier parts! I wouldn't mind gaining more HP and adding better cooling mod's even if it means the car is a little more heavier.
