It's an estimator of you current mpg. Floor it watch it shrink, let off watch it grow.

its your active real time MPG. notice it will go real high when you are crusing with your foot off the gas, then will go real low whne you floor it.
^^^ man i was too late. haha

Meter for when your engine explodes. If it ever goes all the way to the right...boom. The further left it is, the better.

Yeah its pretty useless. The ralliart ain't doing 50mpg or 75mpg so there's no point putting it on the scale.

Now what mitsu should have added is a boost gauge...
......or one of those AYC screens that shows the amount of power going to each wheel
Are either of those available via OBD-II?

^ RA does NOT have AYC, so there's no point in one of those displays. Even if they did have something similar, it would only be power distribution to front & rear wheels. I don't think that's enough for a dedicated screen :P
...boost levels, I don't think is available via OBD-II? Could be wrong, but anyway, most who use a boost gauge tap into the vacuum line directly.
I leave it on the MPG screen during long road trips. I like to have a little contest and try to beat my record high MPG over the entire length of the trip. So far my record is 28.6MPG...going from Pontiac, MI to Columbus, OH.

It can manage that if you are coasting downhill non-stop maybe!
As for the boost gauge, the few stock boost gauges I have seen have been pretty inaccurate, so it probably wouldn't be all too useful unless Mitsubishi somehow managed to create a better than average stock one. =)
