Pair ralliart Bluetooth with Laptop & use skype through car audio system?
A lot of people may not have a clue what I am talking about here...
But could I pair the bluetooth phone system in the Ralliart with my bluetooth laptop - and then use it as the microphone and speaker system in skype?
The laptop would have 3g internet access so skype would get online via that.
Would be pretty cool if it worked right?

It will work if the bluetooth on the laptop supports the hands-free profile (HFP). That is the only profile that will work with the bluetooth in the Lancer.

Thanks for the info. I know nothing of this hands free profile u speak of
On my laptop - it is a $4 little bluetooth usb wireless dongle I got off ebay. It uses the built-in Vista bluetooth manager...so I guess I will not know until I try.
I am hoping it will show up as an audio recording and playback device in the Sound in Windows so I can select it as a device in skype.....but then I start thinking about all the buttons and stuff on the steering wheel...I guess thats where the HFP stuff comes in.

After some research... Microsoft Vista bluetooth stack doesn't support HFP natively. Windows 7 bluetooth stack seems to.

Thanks for sharing your findings!
But, that sucks. Don't want to wait until 7 comes out next month to try this out.
Wonder if I could install a third party bluetooth manager which would work with HFP? Or maybe the problem go deeper with the Vista built in driver for the thing.

How about installing Linux on your lap? Seems to have the HFP support and Skype's there for sure

Is it an external Bluetooth dongle? If so, it should have shipped with a drivers cd.

Yes if you have a good brand name Bluetooth Adapter it should have its own bluetooth stack. Just find one that supports HFP.
