depends on the width of the wheel, you mean trailing arm clearance?

With a 8" 32 offset gives a better ease of mind that it is for sure clearing the strut housing and trailing arm.

A 17x8" +39 is the same clearance as a 17x7.5 +45 wheel and with a 215/45 tire, basically touches the dirt built up on the strut housing and clears the trailing arm by 2mm. You can actually drive like that but I wouldnt recommend it though. I ran the 17x7.5 +45 for 2 days with no problems but it still made me worry. So honestly a 17x8 with +35 clears it enough, but since y'all have a 8.25" wide rim it's going sit just as close as the 17x8 +39 & a 17x7.5 +45. Another factor deciding on what size spacer to use, depends on how flush you want the wheel to the fender to be. With a 3mm spacer for the 8.25" 35 offset you will need a slight pull like Raikiri did with his. With a 5mm spacer you'll need to pull it a little bit more.
I know it might be confusing but I hope it helps. I've been messing with different size rims so that's why I know about the inner clearance problems.

Hey I'd say go with a 10mm spacer but you'll have to do a rear bumper mount delete because of the 215/50. I explained it in one of my earlier posts on this thread so just check that out.

With a 17x 8 +32 wheel you won't need a spacer and wont need to pull. I'm pretty positive of your wheel specs are accurate. Those will specs clear the strut housing and trailing arm enough, so you won't have to worry

I'm clueless when it comes to wheel sizing and setups so.. I am wanting to upgrade from the ugly stock wheels to some rotas, and I don't really want to go have to buy another set of tires to run bigger wheels just yet. I'll either go with 16s to fit my current tires or buy a set and wait til I need new tires. My question is what size for the stock tire size for the rotas could I go? And if I decided to go bigger it would only be to 17s, so what would be ideal without rubbing? I may get some springs or coilovers as well, but not an extreme drop.

Bump.. I believe ‎18x7.5 et42 would fit? If so, what is the best tire size to go along with that?

Honestly you might want to run a 5mm spacer to give you even more space from the strut housing and trailing arm. I would say a 215/35R18 would be a good fit with no rubbing. No if you want it more flush, maybe a 15mm spacer. You might rub but I don't think you would.

5mm spacers on my 16x8 clears by about 3 hairs. He'll definately rub with a 5mm. I'd so go 10mm.

It also depends if the tire has a rim protector on it or not. Dunlop direzzas and kumho ecstas have a rim protector on them so it makes the tire a bit thicker due to the bigger sidewall.

So it was brought up on pages 5 and 7, and I believe 12 as well...

I've been contemplating selling the 17"s and goin back to a 16" rim. That being said, I would like to investigate some possible widths and offsets. Im currently running 17x7.5" rims with a +40 offset, lowered on tein s-techs, and 215/40/17's. I will also be rolling my fenders, and possibly doing a slight pull.

I've read that Keith is running a 16x8 and a 205/55. Does it work well Keith? Any pics of it yet?

What width and offset would you guys Reccomend if I just roll my fenders? I was thinking something along the lines of a 16x8 +35 ish... Anyone else wanna chime in?

See on a 16" wheel you need a higher side wall which is why you are rubbing with a 5mm spacer. But with a 215/35 it's a smaller side wall and it will stretch a little on a 18x7.5 depending on the manufacturer of the tires. Some tires are run narrower than others.

To answer your question roblaza, with that 16x8 +35 you can run a 215/45, still be within that 3% limit and have less rubbing then you would with a 205/55. The ideal size is 225/45 but I think that's touch tire for our cars if you are going lower. You still might have to do a rear bumper tab removal to eliminate rubbing in the rear.

I'm actually running a 215/50/16 now on my 16x8's. I haven't gotten around to pulling the rears but on the front I rub at full lock only in reverse. I'm waiting until I lower my car to decide if I want to stick with the 215/50 or lower it down to a 215/45. Ill show you a picture hold on. I just have to figure out how to put it on here.

As you can see, the stretch isn't to bad. I'll take some more pictures later. This one wasn't so good because I was in a rush to get back to work. lol.
