Drives: 04 Ralliart White

Drivers side rear caliper sticking, very hot

After a rather normal 45 min drive, I smelled something burnt when I got out. My driver side rear was extra hot, even my rim was too hot to touch. I let it cool off and messed with it yesterday. Not sure if you guys run into the same problem but the rear calipers are not easy to take off since the top guide pin hits the brake line, so I had to take off the caliper bracket as well to get it all off. So I didnt find any excessive wear or anything unusual excpet for a small chip in my pad. I lubed everything up, depressed the piston and put her back together and Im back at square one. Long story, I've had this caliper off before to paint it and like an idiot I forgot it was off and stepped on the brake and my piston came completely out, but didnt rip the boot, this was 2 years ago or about 12,000 miles ago and hasnt given me a problem. As soon as its not hot as balls out Im going to look her over again and bleed my brakes.

Really, Its a 2004 with 42,000 miles on it, I kinda doubt it would be covered by a warranty. Plus Im at least 20 min away from a dealership and its up on a jack right now. Anyhow, I think I found my problem, the ss piston is pretty darn clean but the metal around it isnt, so Im pretty sure rust and debris got down there and is screwing stuff up, Also I extened out the boot to look at it and there is a slight rip at the bottom. So Im just gonna go to rock auto and buy a loaded pair because its cheaper than 1 unloaded caliper. Im sure it could be brought back to life with a rebuild kit, but I dont know what Im doing.
