rim sizes and lowering
hey i got a set of tein basics on my RA with a set of 17x7s on but now i'm thinkin i want some 18x8s
my buddy had some 1x7.5s on his car with no problems at stock height
question is can i stick those 18x8s in my car? figure fender rolling is a must but how can i find out what offset might work/
oh the offset on the rims i want is either 35 or 50

Tried 225/45/17 Hankook Z214 on 17x8 +45 offset and the rear tire don't clear the swing arm...
Tried 225/45/17 Toyo RA-1 on 17x7 +42 offset and they can work with minimal work.
I'm still looking for 16-17 X 7" +40 offset and 225 chubby tire to test fit.

Brakes and Wheels FYI - Read first
The Official Ralliart NOOB Thread
Read that first. You'll find that many of your questions are probably answered in there.
15"-16" steelies
16x6 +46 (stock wheel)
16x7
16x7.5 +40
17x7
17x7.5 +40
18x7
18x7.5 +40
19x7.5 +40
Stock tire is 205/50/16
On 7" wide wheels, offset can be anywhere from +40- +46, though +40 puts the wheel as far out as possible, and will probably look the best. (otter)
I changed the offset for 7.5 wheels to +40, but really I would almost just steer clear of 7.5" wide wheels and stick with 7". It's REALLY tight clearance on the rear wheels between the wheel and the strut holding part of the body. Same with the rear control arm.

actually since it says nothing about 18x8's it answers nothing, but the 40-46 offset does help for 17x7's
i was mainly hoping to hear from people that might have random width and offsets that could say exactly what they did to make work

I am setting my car up to run an 18x7.5 with a 40 offset, your best bet would to be to buy the cheapest 18x8 rim with a 35 offset you could find and test fit it. You may need a fender role and flare to get it to work.
Also not I am lowered about an inch in a half.

I used to have thew 18x8 Gt eclipse Rims on my Ra with coil overs so it sat right on the fenders but i dont know there offset but the fronts fit perfect and the rear needed to be spaced out about 3/8ths" witch then made the camber go a bit crazy so a camber kit would deff be needed unless you like burning through tires. heres the pic hope that helps. sry for the size of the pics. Tires are 215/35/18

I show on some 18x8.5 with i think a 35 offset have to run a 3/8" spacer and roll the rear fenders at least 1" if not more, but we rolled them as much as we could with out flaring the fender. And i run a thin spacer in the front I slamed my car till the tire tucked and it didn't camber all that much but they did rub a hole in the inner fender lining.

Never had a problem with front camber in the car being that low but i did have bad rear camber. But as far as i know there is no camber kit for the rear BUT there is the camber bolt that can be ajusted in the rear of the car with some basic tools but youll have no way of knowing the camber after unless you make a Gauge for it of sorts. the Bolts that conect the lower control arm to the rear in the center of the car are the ones im talkin about. Dont know how much camber that will ajust but maby just enough if you mess with it. But i wouldnt mess with it unless you know whats happening. or like i said have made a gauge of sorts to see the change... cause if not you could have long term issues and worse wear then befor.

Just bought 16X7 +38 and will try these out shortly. Will try 15X7 +40 Team dynamics with Hoosier A6 225/45/15 later this summer too to check if they can clear the front caliper AND rear control arm.

yea i had some rear camber issues cuz i had my coilovers set pretty low in the rear, decided i'd raise the back up and adjust my rear alignments bolts, cuz i was wearing the inside edge of the tire pretty bad... drove 1200Kilometers and checked again wearing more so towards the outside i just gotta adjust it half way back so it wears on the center hopefully

You might have slightly better luck with a 40 profile instead of 45.

This reminds me that I need to adjust that post. Now that I've actually seen, myself, what the clearances are from when I put on my 16x7 +45 wheels. The back wheel clearance a the strut mount and swing arm is really tight.
