KYB shocks and Tein S-techs
I tried searching, i can't find anything specific to this question with a certain answer.
Can i run KYB shocks and Tein S-techs without replacing my struts, or will the struts go after a few thousand miles.
Basically how safe is this setup?

I'll find out about the KYB in a few days. One of my rear shock blew out and I'm going use KYB to replace the stock one. But i'm using swift springs on stock shocks.

I think you're confusing terms. Our car doesn't have shocks, it has struts. That said, any lowering spring will reduce the lifespan of an OEM or OEI strut. I run the Tein springs and I usually have at least 1 strut fail per year. However, I didn't have much luck with struts lasting on the OEM springs, either. However, the roads here suck, hardcore, and I put a lot of miles on the car (40k/year, roughly.)
On good roads, and a normal amount of driving, you should be able to expect a couple years of use out of the KYB struts.

Not on a Lancer. For a Lancer, the Tein is the stiffest spring out there, the swift is a touch softer.

I've looked everywhere and e-mailed numerous manufacturers and they've all politely told me tough **** go away.

Because our car is too uncommon. There's very little money in making parts for it. If Bilstein stepped up and made a set, they'd probably sell a couple dozen. Not worth it.

Swapping blown struts is pretty easy. I went to a friend's garage, who had an air compressor & impact wrench, and I changed all four stock springs for the Tein S-Techs at a leisurely pace in an hour and a half or so.
sovain, I've had the OEM struts/s-tech combo for ~20k miles, nothing blown yet. Though I don't track my car (or haven't yet), the roads here in MN are total horse ****. I have a set of new KYB front struts just waiting in my basement for when the time comes though
