suspension Question
Hey guys I am looking at getting coilovers for my car and im debating on 4 brands of coilovers but i dont know which ones to get. Im just trying to get some suggestions on these coilovers. well here they are
1.D2 Racing RS coilovers
2.Tein Basic Coilovers
3.Ksport Kontrol Pro Damper system
4.Megan Racing Street Series Coilovers
Im really leaning more toward the Megan Racing Coilovers.
and just so im rite the Lancer OZ coilovers are a direct fitment on the RA rite?

Yes the oz rally edition coilovers will fit on the ralliart. As well what kind of price range are you looking to spend, what do you plan on doing with the coilovers? Are you looking to do auto-x or just looking for a good suspension to do a drop. Personally i have heard nothing but good things about the megan coilovers. As well speed corps who is a vendor on here is having a really good sale on them.

What is the weather like in NJ? Here where I live, I have a friend who had Megans on his Eclipse, after some rain and salt on the ground, he realized that the Megans started to rust after 7 months of using them.

I have a set of Tein Basics, just put them on my car, and the roads in Calgary are crap and thye have performed pretty good. I live in Fort Mcmurray, which is the far north.. and i'll let you know how they perform in -40/-50 with really crappy roads in about a month.

Beside the fact that there is literally like 20+ threads about this EXACT same topic, you should reference some of the evo guys that have had several if not all of these setups.
I personally would go with the BC coilovers seeing as how they are rated by many as about the same level of performace as the Tein Flex. But beside the fact that they are a fraction of the cost, if one of the corners blows after the 1 year warranty, BC will replace with a brand new one for $95 dollars as compared to $250+ to rebuild a Tein/D2/Ksport/Megan. Just my $.02
BTW: Realistic, you don't want the Zaklee damper. I have had a major issue with wheel hop and I bought one. At first, it fixed my problem. Now, it is torn all to s* and Zaklee is no longer making them. My wheel hop is back, and all I can do is buy solid motor mounts from RRM and hope they warranty for long enough for me to put them to the test.
What's up with this wheel hop thing, anyway? I can't really get a solid answer.
Sorry to hijack.
p.s. Great thread about coilovers: BC coilovers vs Megan Racing coilovers

Stay away from the Ksports. Many of the Lancer guys have had issues with them going bad prematurely. I know a few guys who run the Megan coilovers on their Evos and all are happy with them. I didn't know that BC had a Lancer coilover.

Yeah, I got quoted a little under $1000 for a set from a member on here. He says they come with 8K/6K F/R springs but that they are customizable just like the evos.
I asked him twice to confirm they were for the RA and he said that he had already sold some to a couple of RAs and OZs.

The guy that quoted me was screename: acuteperformance
http://acuteperformance.com/
http://www.bcracing-na.com/
If you read the above thread about "megan vs. ksport" it is mentioned that BC (Bor Chuan) makes D2 and Megan's coilovers.
That's where my money's going. That's all I hafta say about that!

Heres my opinion. I had all the setups you wanted to get, BUT the D2 RS Coils.
The Tein Basics are a good coil if you want a smooth/soft ride, but if you want to get VERY good track times it's a little hard, you would want to rebuild it OR get the Tein HG's or HT's.
The K-Sports are also a good coil, they're pretty much like the Tein Basics, but a little stiffer on street/daily drives. it has HELLA Damping, haha.....one good thing, so if you are on stock wheels/tires, you can Drop the **** out of your car, haha.....but then again, dropping your car like Civics that are literally 1-1 1/2 inch above ground isn't good at all for the Evos. And it's a good track coil if you are on a budget.
Now for the Megan Coils, in my opinion, it's the WORST coil i ever had on my evo. :X It was just sloppy as fwak, body roll on the track was just ridiculous, just wasn't a coil i like as soon i test drove it on the street, let alone on the track. But like i said, that's just MY OWN opinion on these coils because i HAD all these and i tested them out at Willows.
And now as of current, i have the Zeal Function R's. MOST AMAZING coil i ever had! SOOO good.
It's almost like having Motons, that's what it's like. But i know you're not looking into a coil like that because it's probably a little too much out of your range and also it's basically a track coil. If your going to use a coil for track and street, i would go with the k-Sports, that's my honest opinion for you!
