Swaybar vs lower TieBar

Hey all !

Quick question to the Swaybar and lower tiebar owners here. I'm a daily driver who likes to push the RA a bit, but not a racer driver. I'm more a rally type of guy, but I don't do rally. I like to take my turns sharp when exiting the highway or having fun in hometown roads.

Anyway, I would like a bit more control (handling) over my car when I,m having fun and I was wondering which one between the RRM swaybar (perches included) and the RRM lower tiebar would suit me best ? Eventually I would like to get both of them, but I'm wondering which one would be more benefit for my drive ?

Both will add a little something. The sway bar will be the most noticable and of the most benefit. The tie bar--while it looks cool, and will improve handling somewhat--it wouldnt be the adder I would suggest for any real improvement. You milage may vary as will opinions...

what about the rear strut bar that goes into the trunk ? Any point of having the rear strut if I have the swaybar ? Just wondering

The strut bar/lower tie bar perform a different function than the sway bar. A sway bar is meant to help keep the car level in cornering, while a strut bar/tie bar is meant to help maintain suspension geometry in cornering. The sway bar will give you a much more noticable result.

I'm probably going for a swaybar as you guys recommended. Later I'll probably get a lower tiebar and maybe a strut in the trunk. Would you know if the strut in the trunk is a big problem for storage ? I wouldn't want to loose 1/3 of my trunk storage space !

its not a problem for storage. it barely takes any space at all. you would have to lose your stock sub if you have one though

Like others have pointed out:
-sway bar w/ perches will give you the biggest difference.
-Tire choice will too. More sidewall stiffness and sticky rubber will give you better cornering capabilities, but you will sacrifice in every day ride comfort. Find what's best for your situation.
-Lower tie bar and upper strut bar are good complementary items, but the sway will definitely be the difference you notice most for a bolt on suspension piece (other than springs/sturts or full blown coilover setup)

i went in this order:

front strut bar
rear strut bar
sway bar
tie bar

the sway bar made the most difference, the tie bar is a great addition

alright I'm bringing this thread back to life.

I was looking on ebay and found this : http://cgi.ebay.ca/Progress-Rear-Ant...3286.m20.l1116

I thought Progress was out of business ? The seller seems to be quite reliable when looking at his feedbacks.

Don't get me wrong, I totally trust RRM as a store, but I was just curious seeing the Progress on ebay. As far as I know, this costs less than RRM, but the RRM one includes perches.
