I will let you know. I am a bit skeptical about this too.

The only time I've ever had struts go bad in a car, they made squeaking noises pretty similar to (although not nearly as loud as) the noise the rear bushings are making in some of the RAs. No thumping, just a squeak that drove me nuts before I figured it out and changed the struts.

Yeah this drives me nuts. I will trust the dealer on this one. I told my fiance to call the Mitsubishi hotline and ask to get her warranty extended. Why the hell not!?

I get the squeak too. Over everything rough. Also when I get out, it gives a big creak as it rises.

That's the bushings in your rear lower arms. Mine was doing the exact same thing.

I will be calling the dealership tommorow to check on status of the parts. I so want them to be wrong with their diagnosis!

I just got my RA back from the dealership. They said the RR strut was leaking, so they ordered a new one. We'll see if this gets rid of the noise or not, but I have a feeling that it won't, we'll see.

Wel we are picking up the ralliart in a few hours. They replaced the right rear struts and links and the noise is still there. We really b*tched and they are ordering EVERYTHING for the rear suspension. Spartan Motormall in Lansing seems to be really taking care of us, but holy crap they put a electric listening devices on the rear of the car to pinpoint the noise and still nothing conclusive. So here we have a Ralliart with 13k miles that is getting a whole new rear suspension...WTF!?!?
Hopefully this fix it. Although I doubt what will stop it from happening again and again unless the parts were somehow improved...which is doubtful. But hey this warranty is worth something right?

I'm making note of that dealership. If my noise comes back, I'll tell my dealership that yours is dealing with a car with the same problem, as well as Cooksville Mitsu in Canada.

I think we should complain a bit more and get our warranties extendied to the 5/50, my girl bought hers last march and now being just over a year this just isn't cool at all. I would like to know what the guys name in service is there so I can document this problem and I can have my girl call the Mits hotline and start really complaining.

I've already got the long warranty (bought just after they started the new warranty promotion.) Check your service bill and see if the tech's name is on there. They put it on mine.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been on vacation in FL.
They replaced both of the lower rear control arms. They said it was a bad bushing in one of them, so they replaced both so I wouldn't be back in a week to get the other replaced.
