Talking Exhaust Cutout Installed!!

I decided today to finally put on the QTP electric exhaust cutout I got a few months back. It took a couple hours (due to the lack of a lift and all the proper tools) but it's finished. I posted a couple videos on YouTube of the finished product. Check them out and let me know what you think. Thanks!

That is really cool.

How exactly does it work? What did you have to do?

Well I got the cutout and Y pipe from the QTP website for about $250. I got the Y pipe welded in a couple weeks back. It's pretty easy to install, just bolt on the cutout to the end of the Y pipe, run the wire to the switch, (I cut out a hole in a rubber grommet and ran the wire under the carpet) and connect the power wires to a switched 12v source (i used the cigarette lighter circuit).
All the hardware is included with the price (Cutout, Y pipe, switch, and about 10' of wire).
Now all I have to do is flip the switch for about 5 seconds to go from nice, quiet, and street legal to mean, loud, and unrestricted.

So basically the exhaust runs all the way back to your muffler and when you open the end of the other side of the "Y" the exhaust then does a 180 an comes out of there?

With the cutout closed the exhaust goes out the muffler. When I open the cutout the exhaust comes straight out from the header to the cutout. The cutout is welded in at the end of the header, before the cat. The exhaust gasses take the path of least resistance and exit from the cutout when it is open.

I don't even run a cat so i don't know if this will even be beneficial to me.
Regardless it makes it sound REALLY good.

I don't know how you think that sounds good. It makes a na car sound like a beater with an exhaust that is rusting off.

Nahh It sounds better in person I ran just headers to hear it and it sounds beefy in person. Only thing i'd worry about is loss of bottom end power

Yeah... I forgot how a turbo changes everything about the sound of the exhaust...

Turbo also creates back pressure. I wonder how much low end power you lose with that open...
