Starting problem

Hi Everyone,

This is a faily basic question, but I wasnt able to find much when I searched.

Lately when I start my lancer, it has a hard time turning over. It still takes one go to start, but instead of starting all sprightly and fast, its kinda like trying to wake up a fat kid to go to school on sports day...just doesnt want to.

My batter tested as appears to be holding chage. What else can I look for? One thing I noticed is last night when I started, while it starts the dash lights really dim..more than usual. I thought maybe the batter cannot produce the charge needed for cold crank?

Any thoughts?

yar, so should I test the starter? I had thought if it was the starter then it would just click and not start.

Didnt want to fork out on a new batter and find its the starter.

Try a friend's battery with sufficient CCA rating before forking out.

I would see if you can get a free battery test again to make sure. Last year I changed out my battery when Firestone said my battery was going going gone. However when I went to Sears to get a replacement they said that my battery tested fine. One of the things I noticed was that I couldn't see the dot in the eye of the battery. Plus my battery was getting old about 4 years old.

Double check the battery and you may want to replace it anyways because of the age.

so the car got a new batter..all is good.

Why would the dude flip out and tell me that i CANT change the battery myself?? is this just a precaution for people who don't know to let their car "learn" again once the batter has been disconnected for a little?

Or is it just some new BS they tell you. I've heard it before too, the dude who changed my mother-in-laws car battery was like "oh you cant do it yourself cause of your cars computer, it will screw it up"
