cheap 1"+/- antenna

I bought a cellular antenna mast from advance auto for about $8 to change the long antenna on my wife's PT Cruiser. There were parts that I did not need to make the swap so I used them to make a short antenna. I used the screw sleave, 2 double sided screws, a round head screw, a torques screw for some odd ideas, 2 rubber washers and a tire stem cover. (Screw sleave and double sided screw came with antenna.)

The top of the post where screws or tire stem cover are anything can be used that will screw on, radio worked without the top pieces will test out today. Can be painted especially if you don't want corrosion. the longer double sided stem I used went thru the middle of cover and washers just helps to cover most of the screw. sorry for pics!

Interesting... I have the Perrin stubby, roughly an inch or so long and it sucks around my area, but radio sucks in my area in general. I might switch back to my Perrin Shorty I have eventually.

I put it on car it has part of the screw sticking out and is a little static but getting all stations it may have a gab between the 2 double sided screws i have some tiny washers that may help and may add another rubber washer and test again.

So I just added some soder in center of post but, did not help it sounds a little static. It must be similar to Perrin (works with static!) I removed top tire cover valve and found some rubber pieces at autozone to cover it and now I have someones finger on the roof of my car. I will continue to work on it as some thing has to work!
