pistons Q. for RRM
I saw on the regular lancer forum that RRM is making 10.5/1 compression pistons for the 2.0's. Is there a reason to not go high compression on the ralliart. I know that we have good stock pistons with the ceramic coating but could some high crompression pistons be made, and what would be the advantages and disadvantages?

boost
boost does not like high compression. if you want to turbo your car, you want low compression. if you plan on going NA, i don't think there's anything bad about increasing compression. but you'll also have to fill up with premium instead of regular.

I already thought of boost an I realize that it would never work for boost. RRM makes 8/1 pistons for people who want turbo and are now thinking about 10.5/1 pistons for those who don't (for the es-oz). And a lot of people are already running an ECU and have to have 91 octane for that and they can't use that ECU with a turbo either.

I don't know about the torque. I would think that would be increased also. I really wish that Rock would come on here to answer some questions about the pro's and con's.

It would increase torque throughout the entire powerband and therefore increase horsepower as well. 91+ octane would be more than necessary. There would also be an increase in fuel efficency. Less fuel needed to make the same power. The ECU would also have to be calibrated for this change.

There is a lot of R&D in making internals. Most guys are not ready to void warranties yet. They will come when demand comes. Expect turbo pistons soon though for the RA.

i hear ya rock i've been reading these forums for months i bought my car in august and was reading these probably 6 months before that, but ya people don't want to void warranties i don't care if you want to get performance out of your car then you have to compromise something, think of it this you could put off doing something that may void your warranty until after the 100,000 miles , your car turns 100,001 and your engines blows or something . i don't know i bought my car to enjoy it and have fun. not to look at it in a garage or driving it everyday wishing it could go faster how i'd like and worrying about the warranty. no offense to those who do care about there warranty, but thats just me and my .02 peace

There is no need for it in this engine design.

You PAID for the warrantie when you bought the car but If you have the money to back you up anytime you have a problem with your car, well go for it and break it; but their are some people like me who actually work hard for their money and cant afford such fantasies.

ya i paid for the warranty, and no i don't have the money to back it up, and you don't know who i am to actually say that i don't work hard for my money. i'm just say that if you want to put performance into your car are you gonna wait until my warranty runs up?? and like i said you have to comparmise something if you want to get more performance out of your car. that's like buying an evo8 and putting in your garage and looking at everyday and afraid to go out drive it and only put like 5000 miles a year on. i'm not some 18 or 20 year old kid so it's just my prefence to enjoy my car.
