water pump

I'm at 110k miles on an 04 ralliart and I'm fairly certain it still has its original water pump, so I would like to replace it. I have the manual from All Data DIY and it got me through the timing belt change fine, but it doesn't seem to say anything on the water pump removal/installation. I was just wondering if anyone that has replaced it experienced any major hold ups or has any diagrams to share, as I will only have a day or two to get it done (otherwise I'm going to have to drop $120 on train tickets to get back to school on time). I'm assuming it's pretty straightforward but any tips would be appreciated.

I would wait and do it when you change your timing belt at 120k since you have to remove the timing and balance belts to get to the water pump. I changed mine at 120k and it was still in good shape (all seals intact, spun smoothly, etc.)

It's pretty straightforward to do once you dig down to it.. It is fairly tight to work in there and it took me a few tries to get it in there with the gasket lined up properly, but I managed.

Also, when you order the water pump, order a new o-ring for the end of the water pipe. Just in case the one on the car tears when you remove the old pump.

What made you think you needed to change the water pump?

I got the car with 95k already on it and the used car dealer I got it from didn't have any service records to go along with it. The last owner didn't seem to take the best care of her, so I've been trying to do all the preventative maintenance possible to keep the car around for awhile.
