Power steering and a/c ?
I have an 04 lancer ralliart with some mods done to it. intake, exhaust, etc. I was thinking about getting a serpentine belt to run without a/c and powersteering and was wondering has anyone done this? Do they make a belt for this like at adv. auto or what not or does anyone know what size belt i would need for this modification? Any help would be appreciated on this.
thanks

I doubt there will be any harm with that, I've done it in the past with my MR2...altought with the weight of our cars I believe parking the car without PS will be a pain
And driving a car without AC in south Carolina is called suicide if you ask me
in my opinion I would do other mods before starting to remove efficiencies like those
Lightweight wheels, piggy back, timing box, those will probably give you more than removing Ac and PS
btw, the AC wheel is turning freely when you don't have ac turned on...make sure the wind is setup to blow on your feet or face rather than windshield 'cos our car engages the AC without telling you when you put the wind to your windshield setting.

one of the main resons is because i have been told alot about more control without powersteering and i never use the a/c anyway. well do you know if they make a belt for that or do you have to measure for it? If you can help please let me know
thanks again

can this be done with the way the belt and pulley system is laid out or is it impossible?

It can be done. Eliminating the AC is fine but i would keep the powersteering. From what i can recall driving a rack and pinion type steering system without a pump is bad. It relies on assist and pressure. The more control thing is more 50/50. Road racing you will have more steering input but having the powersteering is soo much nicer. Again i would eliminate the AC and keep the PS. Thats my opinion.

ssp-ralliart
I appreciate the info. I just went to a good friend of mine today who is a mechanic and he told me the same thing about the rack and pinion type steering and that it would be forcing fluid back the opposite direction not running and cause great amount of pressure until the valves bust and there is no more steering. So i guess it would be a good idea to keep it. I am still thinking about eliminating the a/c but don't know if that would really do anything performance wise if you would notice anything. Do you know if you would actually notice something?
