Engine running lean

The other day I just put on a new intake manifold gasket and a oil cooler. Turn on the car which has oil at full mark and is running lean on 17 & 18. Just to check I took the oil cap off and to see if oil is flowing around but sees everything dry. Shouldn't there be oil shooting out if you take the oil cap off?

Make sure you hooked up the oil cooler correctly. I've seen them hooked up backwards and they basically block the oil flow enough that your engine gets a few psi of oil pressure and that's it.

Well it seems there is only one way to put it on with the rubber seal on the adapter going to the engine and the filter to the adapter and the the hoses to the adapter. I figured I would see the oil circulating if I took off the oil cap, regardless that wouldn't have anything to do with the lean condition. Right now I'm checking o2 sensor and all other connections.

If you reset your ECU (unplugged the battery) that can often wreak havoc on piggybacks and the learned fuel trims. I suggest consulting your tuner. Also, make sure you're using an accurate means of determining if you're lean or not - ie a wideband.

I don't have a tuner and I use zeitronix wideband for afr. Even so I'm gong to change the computer and get it dyno tuned when I put turbo in my car. As for my oil pressure I guess I should look into a gauge to make sure.

Would a small leak between the intake manifold and engine cause the lean afr?

Yes a small leak at the intake manifold can cause the problem. In that case you will probably see your idle short term fuel trims going up until it hits 14.7. The ralliart has a lot of authority on adjusting fuel trims. I saw a car the other day idle at stoich with the stock ECU and RC 500cc fuel injectors. This was before reflashing obviously but it gives you an idea of what level of adjustment is possible with just the stock O2.
