MIVEC not activating
Hey guys, I need some help. I don't think my MIVEC is activating even when the car is at operating temp and and WOT. It just does not have the power it used to. The odd thing is the car runs amazing I have no rough idle or hesitation or anything this is why it leads me to believe the MIVEC is not activating. It just feels like consistent acceleration to red line not like before where you could tell a difference after 3500rpm. I plan on putting the MIVEC light in this weekend to see if the computer is even activating it. But I feel the problem is farther down the line than that. Can anyone give me other places to look. I herd there was a MIVEC solenoid? What about the oil pressure does that have any effect on the MIVEC? Any direction on this problem would be greatly appriciated.

Check your oil level. I have a customer who ran his engine out of oil and mivec stopped working with no CEL when his oil level was low. Obviously not enough oil pressure to activate it.

It's spring and there's been tons of rain, which means there's tons of humidity in the air in our area right now. High humidity = lower power. That's probably what you're feeling. I know that when it's really humid out, my car certainly feels like ****.

Well I was driving home yesterday and got off the highway to a stop light. As I was sitting at the stop light at idle I noticed the oil pressure light fluttering on and off. It never realy came on just lightly pulsed. So I ran up to the parts store and got a new oil pressure switch, installed it and the light seems to be off. Could this have been causing my MIVEC issues? I have not been able to get on the mivec....I havent been driving it at all, Im waiting on an oil pressure guage just so make sure that everything is ok. Does anyone know where i can get a mechanics service manual for our cars and what is the normal operating oil psi i should expect after installing the guage. Thanks

The OPS on he back of the block is the one that turns on the light . The one on the Side of the head is the one that activates mivec. it could just be going bad. Just rev your motor from under your hood slowly and listen for it to switch. MABY your CEL is bad so your not seeing it but i dout that but still put the code reader on it.
