mechanic can't take out my clutch!
So I just called the shop to see if my car was ready and he says there's a problem getting out my stock clutch. He needs a 10 socket???(But people he's talked to have never heard of 10, Only a 6 and 12 point tool...Apparently "somebody that installed my clutch originally put it in a weird way." I've gotta go back to VTech on Sunday without my car now! Anybody know what 10 point socket this is??!! Thanks!!

geeze.. my shop didn't have any problems with my clutch job, if anything the damned slave cylinder was the longest part cause they had to order it. Have them check with a mitsu tech, sometimes they're nice to you...

They got it out. One of the mechanics said the correct bolt was on the back of the flywheel and he's not used to that or something. Oh well, problem solved!

Holy freaking wow.
I would not, under any circumstances, take my car back to that shop. They don't exactly inspire confidence in their abilities.

On the back of the flywheel? That does not make any sense.

Yeah, a 10 point socket does exist... Its on the same Isle as Blinker Fluid and Muffler Bearings....
I know of 6, 8, 12, Torx, and "E" sockets.... Was probably just their way of buying time if they were too slow to get the job done...
To my knowledge there are NO bolts on the back of the flywheel (engine side)...

+1 on this. There's nothing unordinary or tricky about our clutch assembly. If the shop couldn't figure it out, then they shouldn't be changing clutches.

+2. I did mine in a couple hours. No special tools required. And believe me, there is no bolts on the back of the flywheel.

Mechanic can't take out my clutch
Some Mitsubishi's have started using a 10 point bolt for the clutch. A friend owns a transmission shop and a newer Mitsubishi came in for a clutch job. It had 10 point bolts. He used an air hammer and tapped it on the side to loosen them and removed them by hand. A trip to the hardware for new bolts to install the clutch pressure plate was required.
Google Honda "10 point socket" just remember this is 16mm and to large. Koken makes two sizes I'm aware of a 16mm and a 14mm {14400BP,14400BP-1}
ebay has a 20mm really 16mm honda 10 point socket and an 8mm and 10mm for Mercedes rims.
If you run across use a Grey Pneumatic item 2300K damaged bolt remover. Sears sells some and Napa sells some Irwin. Otherwise use Channel locks if you don't have an air hammer.
He saved me a bolt out and I counted the points and tried a 12 point combination wrench before counting the points.

If you buy a dealer item check on ebay. Just get your flywheel turned at a local machine shop.
Places like clutch exchange will also do your flywheel they usually have a surface grinder.
This prevents vibration.
