most people got it installed at their local tuners..

i will get it working sooner or later.. it's all part of figuring things out instead of just waiting for the answers

let's sum up what we know so far

people who got it installed at their tuners does not know how it's wired in (apexi doesn't have a diagram for our car).. so that part we are all guessing at right now until we get a DIY together..

I can confirm that I got the RPM, throttle position, knock, power, mas sensor and ground wires connected to the right place, but it just won't start when I have the safc plugged in.. I have tried the same unit on another car and it works fine

for the initial setup, the sensor type and sensor no. and stuff in the "etc.." menu .. i was told that it is

hotwire
sensor type = 01 01
sensor no. = 1 1

or

hotwire
sensor type = 00 00
sensor no. = 1 1

I called apex-i before.. don't even bother calling them for "support" since all they do is tell you to ..

get a service manaul
figure it out yourself
or pay somebody to do it

if you ask them any technical questions (what sensor type should i use if i know the input voltage, etc) they will just say they can't support you if you are not on their application list, but thanks for buying the product.. have a good day

I am thinking that the Emanage (about the same price range) would have been better, since last time I called Greddy (not even electronics related) about getting a part special order from Trust Japan, they were wiilling to help me work out my problem on the phone, on their dime (they called me back long distance)..

K, I've never done anything like this but I am really interested in doing it and an gonna take a stab at helpin out, so bare with me, LOL.

You may already know this ....

FYI the MAS sensors on our cars incorporate an Air temp sensor. The black wire (#4) coming off the sensor is the ground, the one beside it white-red (#3), is the MAS wire. The red wire (#2) is power. The yellow-blue wire (#1) is for the Air temp sensor. Wires #1, #3, and #4 goto the ECU. Wire #2 goes to the underhood fuse box to a relay.

Have you thought about hooking the s-afc II to the MAP sensor instead of MAS?

can somebody who has it working help me out?

every sensor is working (RPM, throttle, etc) except for the airflow sensor part

I am using pin 63 (mass airflow sensor output) and pin 34 (or 33) for the ground.. these two pins i am unsure of..

when i check the voltage from pin 63, it's outputtting 8v at idle.. but the service manual says it should be 0 - 5v max.. so i am not sure why it's outputting 8v ..

anybody help?

ok.. here's the deal

i am sick and tired of not getting the correct hookup and setup info for the safc ii

if you know how to get it going (and no, you can't use my car as the "experiment" vehicle..) and I confirm that your instructions are correct, I will give the following parts as a reward (or you can opt for $100 cash)

90% new K&N filter

100% new 2 gauge pod from autometer

95% new volt meter from stewart warner

pickup in toronto area

Did you tap the map or the maf signal?.... We had to run ours of the map sensor. Couldn't get it to run off hotwire, it runs off the map sensor, 12-12 if I remember right.

Follow the diagram in M7-a except for the airflow pin. Use pin #101 for your airflow. Set your safc to read pressure and set it 12-12 for your sensor. It should run then. I haven't had a chance to take it to the dyno. It won't read off the maf signal because its reversed so it won't matter what you set your sensors to, the safc can't read that signal. The car will run off the map signal, but I don't know if you'll be able to make corretions or not. I don't know how the lancer is setup cause it acts like it has a maf and a map. If it makes corrections with just the map signal then you're golden. Like I said haven't been able to hit the dyno to make sure the setup is 100% right.

i figure out why we can't use the maf signal.. it's an easy fix and i am working on it

hotwire is much more accurate than the map signal.. which i prefer not to use right now
