RIPP BRat Box ECU add on

Hi guys this seems to be too good to be true isn't it. Turbo guys migth benefit from this especially the ones running the RRM kit or using piggybacks.

It's just a piggyback ECU. There is only so much you can do with these devices before the ECU adapts to the piggyback, then any benefits would be effectively lost.

Did you read the extended information this is not a PIGGYBACK you will need a piggyback along with this to run adjustments, what this does is basically trim the signals to some point so that the ECU does not realize it has been modified. Quite clever but expensive because you will still need a piggy but at least is another option.

I have read the specs and seems to work well. A lot of people can take advantage of that pretty well. Not for me because I'm in a proyect making it megasquirt right now.

Nope Jorge wants to eliminate the use of the throttle by wire and use just a standard wire throttle in order to use the megasquirt, I told him my understanding is that the Galant 200-2003 throttle is a cable one and works as a direct fit.

ohh ok thats good to know thanks but I've read about those computers and you can control the fuel and the timing only and leave the stock ecu managing the other components of the engine. You have to make too a custom crank trigger sensor.

I would seriously advise against this. Stay away from RIPP and as far as this product is concerned its just a really expensive E-bay resistor. Thats why if you talk to them they wont tell you exactly what it does or how it works. On C4G we had a member pull it apart and pretty much reverse engineer it to find out how it works. This is just my Opinon though take it or leave for what it is.

Thats a lot of work changing TB's and the Gas pedal and everything, but good luck hopefully it works out for you guys

I don't think the pedal has to be changed, luckily the ralliart has a hydraulic cable that gets as far as the passenger side headlight , there you will find a TPS and the system that acts as a throttle then the signals get sent from the ECU to the Throttle by Wire at the intake manifold, so if you go standalone just remove the throttle at the manifold put a mechanical one and use the oem cable or fabricate a new one. To be honest if you are going standalone this shouldn't be a problem.

Don't know about the ralliart but in the 4g the pedal is electronical as well. Has a Wire Harness that plugs in underneath the dash that runs to the ecu

I am telling you how the ralliart is because after all, this is a RALLIART thread. The ralliart does NOT have an electronic pedal, it actually has a cable that goes all the way to something similar to a throttle , personally I think putting this device behind the headlight is lame first because most of the accidents tend to be frontal collisions and in the event of that if you do crash that side you wont even be able to accelerate the car and second because it is actually a waste of space and cable they could put that somewhere else and leave that part alone for us to pass thru the intercooler piping , anyway I have attached two images explaining the layout the first one is a picture of my engine bay , follow the red line between the radiator and the engine and it will guide you to the throttle TPS housing. The second one is a close up of that assembly. Again our engines may have the same engine code but there are trivial differences between them for instance the intake manifold on your engine is different and so is the cylinder head. Anyway the idea is to remove that cable and housing and the stock electronic throttle, install a 2000-2003 throttle and put the end of this cable to the galant throttle, calibrate the galant TPS to work with the megasquirt and there you go.... away the Throttle by wire system.
