Putting rods in

I'm going turbo so I'm doing all the internals. Can I put new rods in with the same bearings I have? the bearings are a few months old and I haven't abused my car at all.

If your going to redo it why have old bearings with new rods, you can always set aside those bearings or try to sell them.

Bearings are cheap cheap cheap, you'd be crazy not to replace them and I can't think of anyone who would buy a used set of bearings. Don't bother doing the mains, just the rod bearings. The weak point on these engines is really the pistons so make sure you get pistons and rods.

okay so if I can put evo rods and I know I ask this question here before, why can't evo rod bearings be used?

If the EVO rods fit then I can't see why a new set of bearings for that application wouldn't also fit. The whole point is get new bearings and make sure they're sized properly.

okay I'll change my bearings, I was just being cheap. If anyone knows for certain if evo bearings work, I guess I'll get the cosworth bearings.

mybad I forgot about the thread. well I felt more torque and very noticable on throttle response and the rpm drops much quicker and the balance shafts were pretty heavy probably six pounds each. The ams one is of course the best and is more safer on the bearings. I just did away with the balance shafts because I rebuild my motor all the time and was also being cheap at the time I did it. I would get the ams it looks alot more solid proof than actually eliminating them.

I wouldn't remove them if I were you, the 4G69 vibrates a lot from the factory, removing these BS is just making these vibration worse, they are there to make your life a better, since you are building your engine , the HP gain from removing the BS is minimal and the cons are more.

My engine doesn't vibrate at all even under full throttle.

between the motor mounts, and the eliminator, i would think your motor vibrates alot. Mine sure did, pre-BS Eliminator.

either or. I'm not worried about minor stuff like vibration and all. I have a jetta for a daily driver. this car will only see the road once a weeek during the summer, and probably towed to the track, incase it blows there. It will put on 500 miles a year, if that. Its dedicated race car. I'm just worried about it making my motor blow up. and this is the safest eliminator in the market, so i think i'll be ok, with a mild 550whp in the future.

thanks alot for the info and input tho
