Air filter from hell.
Went around a corner and shifted into third gear only to have no power at all. The AFR was pinned at 10. Got out checked the oil ....lol might as well.
Unplugged the battery to reset the ECU. Got back in tried again and still pinned @ 10 and stalls out. So I check the IC pipes starting at the filter and I shake the pipe and hear rattling the metal circle in the middle of the air filter fell off. so I walked home got some hand tools and an old filter I had and fixed it up. what a pain though !

That's shi**y...did the metal thing hit your MAF or something? I guess it's time for a jumbo-size K&N replacement

It's the one from RRM. The metal piece ended up just in the filter. How it didn't get sucked in I have no idea. I looked at the metal piece after and there was practically no glue on it.

That exact same thing happened to me when I used to have the RRM SRI. At around 4k rpms the car would lose power. Took it in and they found the metal piece from the filter in there. The car had been making a whistle sound since Jan, and the problem and the sound went away after they replaced the filter.
Not to steal the thread, but another prob with an RRM product I have is their aluminum shift knob. I screw the thing on and there is about a 3/4 inch gap in between the bottom of the knob and the top of the boot. I can post pics tmrw if you don't know what I mean. Just kinda pi$$ bout it.

It looks like a large silver cufflink that buttons the interior wall of the filter together.

I have had the same thing happen to me on my RRM SRI... Wound up switching to a K&N unit that I bought off summit... I wouldn't suggest purchasing a replacement from RRM either they'll probably just send you the same ****ty filter.
