Will UDP work with the turbo?

I have decided to go turbo so I'm getting rid of my bolt on, so I was wondering if the UDP is a good fit for the RA turbo? Should I sell it or keep it?

Bad idea. When you go with boost you end up with a lot more crankshaft deflection (obviously since you're making more power). You need the harmonic damping of a stock or properly damped pulley.

what?.....I guess it helps but usually when you increase the power or do things that do a negative effect on the engine you get parts that do a positive effect creating a solution or a balance.

Hackish, so you suggest putting back the stock pulley? What would be the neg effect of keeping it?

Does someone with the UDP and a turbo kit please let us know his opinion?

More info guys please.

Yes, I suggest putting the stock pulley back on. 9 times in 10 you won't have a problem unless you're pushing 300+hp. It's that other 1 in 10 times where you have the problem and have to replace the engine.

well just run the pulley. I don't have any issues with my high compression engine which is over 300+hp. I haven't seen any issues running the RA with over 300+hp with an UDP. But also i have done the cranks for these RAs also. #1 crank pin and rod journal are out of balanced. There is a possibility of damaging the engine by running the UDP but i have yet to see it with the absence of the vibration dampener. Remember this, whenever you modify anything there is a chance of failure which is why i am sure hackish brought that up.

Crank deflection is proportional to the amount of force applied by each piston. This means the more power you make the more it will deflect the crank as each cylinder fires. This deflection is the beginning of crank harmonics. Damping these will stop the crank from "ringing". If you have the time there are many SAE articles and other engineering pieces written on the math to calculate these things.

It's not an issue of weight, it's an issue of vibration absorption. The stock pulley is actually a 3 piece pulley. A steel center, wrapped in dense rubber, then the outer steel part that the belt rides on. That dense rubber absorbs vibration in the crankshaft.
